(An introduction ...or teaser... to my thoughts)
I once met a knowledgable man, now this is usually a hard thing to come across. I met him in China, whilst on my own adventure. He on his. We had formed a friendship around a book. Not just any book. A book titled 'The Hero with a Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell.
This peculiar man with the same thirst for knowledge as I shared a common interest in mythology and both of us vastly curious about this underlying map that each one of us seem to unconsciously follow... This thing called 'The Heroes Journey."
Now, this man that I met in China... On a particular morning under a tree whist having breakfast mentioned this beautiful phrase "The Grace of Gravity" and me, of course, me being a writer grabbed those words before any ear could steal them and since then I have tucked it away, only to share now with you what I think it means...
'The Grace of Gravity'
...like a feather falling.
That is how natural it is, the floating of a feather gracefully being pulled to the earth. The underlying law, gravity of course.
I am sure many of you have caught that moment whilst watching a feather afloat, gradually dancing with the wind as it takes its time to stick to the earth.
This is the pull that we all inherently feel, a pull to our destiny, our purpose. Coming to the realisation that you are the hero.
We are 'controlled' by this underlying force where our lives are steered, pulled and pushed into different directions. Don't get me wrong I by no means am saying it is all pre - destined, there are countless fields of possibilities that arise from each choice we make. But coming to the acknowledgement that you are responsible for where this vehicle of life ends up... It is a big responsibility, that not many of us are willing to accept.
However, this 'Grace of Gravity' is the underlying law that governs this journey we take.
So... just like that feather that falls ever so gracefully.
We all, too, can gracefully fall towards our deepest desires that fulfil our destinies.
A journey that allows for us to discover the truths of our own psyche, yet still uncover the trials and tribulations but overcome them with confidence. (For a later blog)
"So that's what destiny is: simply the fulfillment of the potentialites of the energies in your own system." - Joseph Campbell
